my dull weekend

despite a todo list longer than the code required to satisfy it, i
managed to get virtually nothing done this weekend. these things happen.
i was hit by a crippling lack of motivation to do anything, and spent
most of the weekend (which for me includes friday) just lying in bed. glech.

i've kind of got a handle on this now. i don't consider a seemingly
unproductive weekend to be wasted any more. sometimes it's necessary,
even positive to do nothing at all.

i did manage to write one quite nice piece of code on saturday evening.
which reminded me of the old trueism that unix was not designed to stop you
from doing stupid things, because that would also stop you from doing
very clever things.

on sunday afternoon i forced myself to get out of the flat to prevent
myself from spiralling down into a self perpetuating despondency. sleepily
(and near fatally!) a lurched into the road, hailed a taxi, and took myself
off to camden. i sms'd a friend to see if they fancied a drink and a chat,
and then spent a pleasant time wandering around the markets.

i spent a fortune at cyberdog.. the only clothes store i know of where
you end up buying spare parts.

then once my friend turned up we veered between the west end, somewhere
far too far south for me to identify, and my flat in swiss cottage.

an upbeat end to a non-entity of a weekend.

into monday we boldly go.... waaaaaaaaarrrghgh!

ps. to everyone currently linking to the kpmg email... haven't you *read*
my web link guidelines, dammit!? ;-)... a matter of time until someone
comes up with a kpmg hyperlink button graphic? i might have to break
my no-links policy for that.
