miscellaneous details

well.. its thursday evening. the weekend has arrived. that necessitates
a couple of bottles of merlot, some chocolate hob nobs and a lazy
evening vegging out in front of a set of terminals. drifting cozily
off to sleep. which is pretty much a certainty; i haven't slept in
48 hours and i'm knackered. it took me an hour to find energy enough
to leave the studio and come home to bed.

today is officially the last day of provision for my leased line.
which means my hellish month without bandwidth begins tomorrow. i'm
likely to be on irc much of tonight as i quietly get drunk and doze
in and out of consciousness. feel free to join us; #raettig.org on
undernet. email/icq gen or myself for a channel invite, else /msg
scooby or genslater.

if my internet connection is still running when i wake up i'll probably
be back on irc, and may put some webcams online in full video-streaming mode.

its been a long and tiring week. my worrisome and unzenlike state is
hinting at a return. i need to take steps to prevent that from
happening. there are so many things to worry about at the moment.
but its also been very satisfying in some ways. the warm company
business cards are all but ready for print. i've had some very
stimulating conversations in the last seven days. and - excitingly
for me - it looks like we have a phone number, fax number and
some office space all sorted out. visible signs of progress.

i've got so much i need to get done on saturday and sunday. i'd
really appreciate anybody nudging me in the right direction, therefore,
on the things i need to get done on friday...

1. go to the bank, withdraw rent and loan cash
2. transfer money to cover my credit card repayments
3. give the flat a good tidying
4. speak to landlord about moving flat. pay rent.
5. take washing to the launderette, and collect it again
6. open dreaded snail mail, find out if i missed a court appointment
7. get into westcott/telewest voicemail hell. groan.
8. log onto irc, ramp up webcams if the line is still running
9. ring demon about passwords and dns handovers?
10. work on copy for warmco business plan revision two, and website
11. meet derek to discuss progress
12. book table in advance of going to japanese restaurant, swiss cottage?

i really need to get all of those things done, despite my exhaustion.
so this means not forgetting anything, and not sleeping until mid
afternoon.

if the leased line is off tomorrow, i'll begin to keep an offline
journal of my month without bandwidth, which i will upload when
opportunity allows. its going to be an unusually busy month at
the studio. so chances of using the facilities there for recreational
and social connectivity will be slightly reduced. i'll be needing
as much moral support, and as many ears and shoulders as are willingly
offered.

during my downtime gen (@raettig.org) will likely be the first port of
call if anyone needs to get hold of me in a hurry. she uses icq, and
will give out her number where required. i may even end up dictating
despairing journal postings to her over the phone for posting to this site.

its all positive. its all for the best. i'm just going to be busy
and grumpily disconnected for a while. thanks in advance for
all tolerance, understanding, support and encouragement.

but first. its thursday evening and i'm very tired indeed. time to
open some wine.

here's to living in interesting times, and to eternally warm company.
